Next weekend AVCon is on yet again, with the biggest and best Tabletop Room yet. Tickets are still available, but if you are into tabletop, why should you spend your cash on the event? What’s in store for you? Let’s take a look at what will be on offer.
Space, the final frontier
The Tabletop Room has been relocated from the Panorama Ballroom to Hall J of the main show floor. This means that its even easier to get in a game, then check out the exhibitors, and generally be amongst the goings-on of the event.
The Librarians
Of course, the freeplay section returns. Along with it an impressive library of games provided and run by the team at local game store BrainHackr. Want to get an old favourite to the tabletop? Or experience some of the new hotness? BrainHackr’s extensive selection should keep players of all kinds enthralled and entertained.
Made to be played
Want to see what tabletop games designers Australia wide are up too? The Indie Tabletop Games Area is back with a larger selection of published and prototype games from Australian designers. From filler card games to sprawling roleplay, and everything in between.
I attack the darkness
Whether swords and sorcery, horrors of the past, or exploring the vastness of space the roleplay area has always proven popular. Old favourites like Pathfinder and D&D return, along with locally made games like Bloody Quest and the kid friendly Talespinner.
Come ye challengers
Think you are a dab hand at Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride or 7 Wonders? Sign up to the tournaments for any of these titles to show the world your tabletop skills, and gain untold glory!
Live in VR
Adelaide-based tabletop game distributor VR Distribution will be at the event running demos of some of its games. So if you have ever wanted to try Klask or Exploding Kittens, or just check out the titles from iello or Kosmos, this is the place for you.
Gotta trade em all
TCGs are popular. So they get their own dedicated space, overseen by the founts of TCG knowledge at Good Games. Want to learn how to play, you can do that. Want to find a hardened veteran to face off against? You can do that too!
Small battles
Scratch that tactical itch in the wargaming and miniatures area. Whether its leading your troops to battle, or marvelling at some amazingly painted miniatures, there’s something for everyone.
A gundam good time
As always, tabletop shares its space with the Gundam Builders Club. These helpful and passionate hobbyists will teach you how to build a giant robot all of your own. Who isn’t into that?!
AVCon is on 5-7 July. Tickets are still available.
