This past week on the tabletop

08/07/2018 – 14/07/2018

What happened in the world of tabletop over the last week?

Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the Dragon Ball Z anime. IDW plan to celebrate it with a miniature game! Though it looks like someone has gone Saiyan on the website and knocked it out, so here is the Tabletop Gaming announcement just in case!

The phenomenon of tabletop conventions continues to spread to a worldwide audience. This week Chrysalis gave us a look into the Uganda Village Boardgame Convention.

We all have our vices. For some, it is crowdfunding tabletop games. Kotaku writer Haoran Un talks about what he believes are the do’s and don’ts of Kickstarting board games.

Theme is an important part of a game, but should be now be thinking more critically about what themes we use and how we use them? Angelus Morningstar at Story Board decided to explore the use of Colonialism in tabletop.

Today (or tomorrow, depending on where you are, I guess) is the Forge World & Specialist Games Open Day at Warhammer World. Get a ticket, and check out some awesome miniatures.

Featured crowdfunding game

Incoming Transmission – 16-Bit Deduction Family Board Game

Incoming Transmission is a two or more player game of deduction and strategy. Players must work together to achieve victory, but each side plays with slightly different rules. One player takes the role of Mission Control, the others are the Cadet. The Cadet must decipher the cards given to them by Mission Control to accomplish secret tasks.

The Kickstarter has a goal of AUD$13,469 which it has reached with 26 days still to go. Incoming Transmission is being run by Magic Meeple Games, which has run three successfully funded campaigns in the past, two of which have been delivered.
