Post Our Paint

In the UK the Royal Mail has recently added water-based paints to its list of restricted goods. From the Royal Mail website.

Water-based paints, wood varnishes and enamels

The items must be securely closed and placed in a leak-proof liner, such as a sealed polythene bag, so that any inadvertent leakage is contained within the outer packaging. Surround with absorbent material such as newspaper and sufficient cushioning material to protect each item from damage. Volume per item should not exceed 150ml. No more than four items can be sent in any one package. The sender’s name and return address must be clearly visible on the outer packaging.

As you can see, the restriction on paint limits a package to four items at no more than 150ml each. This policy is restricting not only for people receiving paints for hobby or professional use, but is also hurting a number of small businesses.

At the moment no single, official explaination has been provided for this change.

Some UK residents have created a petition on change.org to address this issue. Post Our Paint aims to lift these restrictions imposed on water-based paints.
